One of the problems I have with the government meddling with things as important as substance and drug abuse treatment is how the group AA has been accepted and taken in by the government. With little proof that AA even works even after decades of it being used by probation officers in local city governments it continues to be a requirement by local probation officers dealing with drug criminals.

Most city governments require that drug addicts and offenders go to AA to help keep them in line.
