At one time or another, all of us are guilty of feeling "it's too late" or "our time has passed." What are these negative thoughts except so much self-defeating illusion? The truth is an old dog can certainly learn any new trick he or she wants provided the desire is great enough. Of course, a daily commitment strengthened by love and support helps too. Over at Motivation Junction, we came across a great education motivation story about a 97 year old great grandma who recently obtained her G.E.D. Of her great granddaughter's help the G.E.D. recipient, Evie Eves, said:
"She talked me into it ... I had no self-confidence but she kept saying, 'you can do it, you can do it!' ... When I got discouraged, she would say, 'you can pass it.' "
If you're thinking of taking the GED -- or doing anything else that seems too difficult or out of reach because of your age -- chances are you're not 97 and you have better eyesight than Mrs. Eves. What are you waiting for?
