Please give us a short summary of your website?

What inspired you to launch your own website?
Having someone else do it created a wedge between me and my business. It kept me from being as flexible as I wanted to be and made it difficult to participate in the creative element of my web site.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
MindSlapOnline.com is my first web site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
MindSlap! is the name of my business. MindSlap!™ is a word we coined which refers to conscious shock. It is a process that must be applied to one's life or business to take it to a new level. So I decided to call my web site MindSlapOnline for obvious reasons.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Our writings focus on information a person desiring change can actually use. We emphasize the infrastructure necessary to achieve balance. We support long lasting change, not quick fixes. We offer free access to articles and podcasts. If people desire to take their study deeper, our writings are available.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My eventual goal is to expand the site so that it is even more beneficial to those seeking personal growth.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I just finished the site the first of August. So it is a little early to tell.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would incorporate my blogcasts into the parent site rather than having them functioning at separate domains. I am sure that there are a number of interactive elements that I would like to add in the future.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I believe so.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Just learning my way around the web design software was the biggest headache. Being familiar with layout programs helped though.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Trying to figure out the best method of getting traffic to my site.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Articles and podcasts.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Even better than I imagined!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I am in this for the long haul.
Why do you recommend being your own webmaster?
Being your own webmaster gives you a feeling of being in charge of your business. Little things that need to be changed don't cost you money and can be done right away. If you have an idea, you can work through the process until it comes out the way you want rather than having to have a finalized vision when you talk to the webmaster and just hope that he/she can understand your vision. If they don't, it can be really expensive!
