Name of your website?

NB Manuscripts

Your name?

Arloa Beach

Your Location (city, etc)

Saskatoon

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Publications available from NB Manuscripts include "Invisible Women & Girls" a book dealing with the issues of female abusers by Kelley Lee Dale Armstrong, "Dust & Laughter" by Margaret Dutli about her prairie family memories and Chemistry Manuals by Arloa Beach.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The website was developed to promote the publications of these three friends and authors.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In July 2007 the first website, NB Manuscripts was launched.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

NB is the latin abbreviation for "note well" or "take notice". We combined it with the word Manuscripts to mean "take notice of these manuscripts".

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The publications are being offered for sale directly from the authorsand they are very diverse. "Invisible Women & Girls" focuses on female abuses, an issue society tends to ignore. "Dust & Laughter" is about life growing up on the prairies. The "Theory of Chemistry" has been approved as a reference manual by Saskatchewan Education.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We would like to sell the publications and add more books to the site.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

As authors, this is just one venue for the sale of our books.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We would add our own secure shopping cart system.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None related to the website.

What has been your biggest challenge?

None related to the website. It has been a challenge to have the books available through bookstores.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Have not determined since we are still in the initial promotion stages.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

We expected more visitors.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up for 6 months. We plan to keep it indefinitely.

What do you like about your website?

I like the fact that we are able to sell directly to our readers without the need for the middleman.

What is your website address?
