Please give us a short summary of your website?
Our site offers a number of drug testing products and we offer a separate line of health products too. Basically we are bringing affordable testing for drugs and health issues into the consumer's home.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We think this is a great market and like that people have choices in dealing with their health.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is our first venture.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
This title fits the best, because we do offer self testing products that don't test for drug use. So we wanted to emphasize general mental/physical health testing, not just drug testing, although that's our main focus.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We are really trying to provide a high level of information. People have a lot of questions about home drug test kits for example, and so we have dedicated an "infocenter" to answering those questions and writing about how drug testing is used and where. We also maintain a blog that we update a few times a week. We are trying to stay relevant and interact with our customers.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To be a thriving business!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Maybe hire someone really famous to write columns for us. That would be great!
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Sure, and what a wonderful problem to have!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Trying to stay up to date on new e-commerce strategies and general web developments takes daily effort. It's worth it, but everything moves so fast.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Good old-fashioned SEO is always important.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I think of it as something that anybody can try doing, but you have to stay committed and involved if you want it to be successful.
What sort of background do you need to run a website?
I would say you ought to be a bit of a jack of all trades. Able to write, able to analyze data, and able to make smart business decisions. Know your strengths and weaknesses, and don't be afraid to ask other people to help you out!
